Online Taxonomy

This one day meeting aims to provide an update on progress with getting taxonomic information on the Internet and a critical review of the situation. Emphasis will be on the state and extent of taxonomic content online rather than on details of the enabling IT applications. Systems will be discussed in the context of their effectiveness in encouraging content providers to upload data onto platforms and the ease of their use to those needing access to taxonomic data. The meeting will also address the question of whether users’ needs are being served and will conclude (also serving as the Evening Lecture) with actual usage of biosystematic information.
