Summary Facts

Locations of all venues can be found on the conference map. However, take care with Google's own annotations. Some of the major landmarks like metro stations and ATM machines are miss-placed by up to a block. Here is a quick summary of the key facts about the conference:

The main event

  • The conference will be held in the Grande Galerie, which is the main hall in Paris' Natural History Museum. Just inside the door you will find a reception desk and from there you will be guided to the meeting venue itself.
  • Tea and coffee will be provided in the Museum itself
  • We have requested that WiFi be made available for the conference, although we await confirmation of availability
  • Lunch will be in the Museum cafeteria located a short walk down the street from the Grande Galerie
  • The Lightning talk presentation template (for day 2 of the meeting) is available here

Associated Conference Events

  • A meeting on the TaxPub publication standard will be held in "Tour Jussieu" (the big tower on the UPMC campus), room 1006, 10th Floor, on Wednesday, January 19, 9:00 - 18:00
  • A closed management meeting for workpackage leaders will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 16:00 - 18:00 in the Salle d'Informatique (in the prefab building)
  • Members of the ViBRANT strategic board will meet for a closed meeting at Chez Léna et Mimile for 19:30 on Wednesday 19th January

The Surrounding Area

Paris' South Bank is the home to many of the city's university campuses and the area is served by many small cafés and bars. The café "Les Cigognes" in Rue Linné has free WiFi (ask the bar staff for the password), reputedly the cheapest beer in the area and does good coffee. We suggest that this as a default meeting point for conference delegates. Its marked on the map.

Dinner

There is no official conference dinner but there are a wide variety of restaurants in the area. Most are small and could not cope with 30 people descending all at once. Many also do fast-food, which has always seemed a shame when you've got an evening in Paris. Try wandering down towards Notre Dame or away from the river into the Latin Quarter.
