pro-iBiosphere: Flora, Fauna or Mycota publications or services

The EU FP7 e-infrastructures project “pro-iBiosphere” will provide the foundation for an Open Biodiversity Knowledge Management System, addressing acquisition, curation, synthesis, interoperability and dissemination of biodiversity knowledge. This meeting will consist of three workshops on:

  1. The requirements of users for floristic and faunistic information and services (RBGK)
  2. Measuring and constraining the costs of delivering services (Naturalis)
  3. Coordination and routes for cooperation across organizations, projects and e-infrastructures (Plazi)

Examples of topics that will be addressed during this pro-iBiosphere meeting are:
Who are the users of Floras, Faunas and Mycotas, and how do they use the information?; do Floras Faunas and Mycotas provide the information users would like?; what would make life easier for users of Floras Faunas and Mycotas?; what should a future Flora, Fauna or Mycota offer to its users?.

What are the costs of flora or fauna production?; What services are available for the taxonomic community?; how can these services contribute to the reduction of costs (e.g. for mark-up and delivery of legacy biodiversity information, the provision of identification tools, the production of the "New" Floras and Faunas)?

How are the current biodiversity platforms and stakeholders linked to each other at the technical level?; which persistent identifiers they use?; how can we make biodiversity data interoperable to increase their re-use?
